Here at Wild Foods, we believe in a balance of the many factors that make up a healthy life.
While our list closely resembles the one above, we would like to expand on it just a bit…
It looks like this:
- Health - Mental and Physical
- Family - This includes family and friends, which are, to us, the same thing.
- Purpose - This is our work. The work we do that fulfills us and that hopefully contributes to the world and our fellow man in some way.
- Faith - Human beings have to believe in something. What you believe is yours, but for all men, it is as fundamental to life as oxygen.
As the quote above suggests, it’s health, family and faith that needs constant “judging” and upkeep. If you are to drop one of these, in some way, you are likely to suffer long term damage.
Work and purpose is more free flowing. It is always changing. Sometimes we wax and sometimes we wane, and of many of us, we are constantly figuring it out.
The thing about the our work and purpose is, it can't be fully fulfilled if the other aspects of your life are not in check.
Every ounce of strain in your relationships or health will inflict strain on your work.
(This is a reason I make 8 hours of sleep a night a priority no matter what.)
Nutrition and exercise are fundamental to health. We all know this. But most people don’t realize how much they affect mental health as well, which in turn, affects your work and purpose.
Basically, it’s all one big interconnected circle.
This is one of the reasons Wild Foods was founded. I believe in the importance of food and nutrition in how they are so closely tied to human health and happiness. To put it simply, we don't take these things lightly!
I hope this serves as a reminder the next time you find yourself forging one of the pillars of health.
The next opportunity you have to make a better food choice, or the opportunity to spend times with friends and family, or the chance to pursue purposeful work, don't hesitate. Act knowing you are doing a great thing for your health and life.
And if you are constantly forgoing the other aspects of life so you can chase hollow goals of money, fame and power, stop for a moment and consider at what price.
Everything comes with a price, especially tangible success.
