Paleo Is Whaaa… You Might Be Surprised By The Answer
“Paleo is not a diet. It’s not a fad. It’s not a rigid set of rules to follow. It’s not a sound bite. It explores the history, nutrition, the human diet, and, most importantly, our health.”
-Liz Wolfe, Eat The Yolks
The thing about Paleo that people don’t understand is there is no single version of the diet other than it is all based on eating real food.
If you eat real food, you win. You can eat whatever you want within the confines of a balanced diet.
The Kitavans, for example, consumed up to 70% of their calories from starchy tubers (yam, sweet potato, cassava, taro), with the rest being fish, fruit, and coconut. Not exactly low-carb.
Then there is the Inuit (Eskimos), who consume 75% of their daily calorie intake from saturated animal fat. Not exactly low-fat.
The list goes on and on as we span the globe. The common among all these hunter-gatherer tribes is that they do not have access to processed foods and enjoy little-to-no Western diseases.
Hmm… that is curious. They don’t have access to Western foods, and they don’t have the Western disease. Weird.
Eat real food made from the freshest ingredients you can find. Doing so will grant you all the health and body comp results you could ever hope for.
Eat real food.
