Are You Putting Health First Or Last?
“Without health, life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering – an image of death.”
-Buddha
Sure, but who lives by this?
Do you?
Are you putting health first? When you choose between working more for something tangible—money, success, power, whatever—are you sacrificing health to get it? Or are you making health your priority than going after it?
Sadly, most people take the former approach. There’s a quote… let me see if I can find it. Aha! Here it is:
“Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health to make money, he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present, the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die and then dies having never really lived.”
―James J. Richard
Damn. He just obliterated society in 4 sentences.
Should it be that easy? I don’t think it should be. Sure, there are exceptions, but they are just that: exceptions. The sad reality is that most men (and women) fall victim to the four sentences you just read. It shouldn’t be that easy…
Read that quote again and think about how it might apply to your life. If you don’t like something, make a change instead of trying to rationalize it.
That’s about all I’ll say today.
